FTP Voyager - Excellent FTP Utility with a windows explorer like interface. $40-$60. Good shareware features.

Stat-n-perf - Shareware download rate application. It shows download rate, and has a few very modest features. It helps when you think a site is stuck, you can quickly see if the data has stopped, and check your access speed.

Neo Trace - Shareware traceroute program. It performs latency checks and generates a graphical map of the route from your PC to the target domain, showing every HOP along the way, and the latency involved. It is a hand tool when the net slos down. Is it your ISP? your host? or somewhere in between. It is also handy to check out a new hosting service, where are they hosting from, and on which carrier.

Web Position Gold - My most recent toy. If you are serious about getting found by the search engines this is it. AMAZING SOFTWARE $350 ish plus $100/year for database upgrades. If you manage multiple domains it is a must have.

1st Position - 1st position is a keyword generator. Enter one keyword, and it will tell you the most popular variations on that keyword,in order of popularity. It determins this by how many people daily search on that phrase. Then it tells you the number of web sites with that key phrase. AMAZING SOFTWARE 10 day free trial, 5.5MB download, about $80

Thumbs Up - Image thumnailer - Free and easy.

Xenu Link Sleuth - Web site link checker - Xenu's Link Sleuth (TM) is a spidering software that checks Web sites for broken links. Link verification is done on "normal" links, images, frames, plug-ins, backgrounds, local image maps, style sheets, scripts and java applets. It displays a continously updated list of URLs which you can sort by different criteria. A report can be produced at any time. FREE DOWNLOAD AMAZING SOFTWARE

Dreamweaver - Macromedia's What you see is what you get HTML page generator. I used frontpage for years because it was so easy, but now I cant believe I waited so long to take up dreamweaver. In particular it has no problem dropping flash and shockwave movies into HTML. But if you get it, beware the intenal flash buttons - they are all flash 5, and your web page may force folks to refresh their plugin. That is probably alright for an amazing animation, but rather tacky for just a web page.

Flash - Macromedia's vector animation creation tool. All of the banner ads are built utilizing flash. Its strengths is that if use a bitmap image in an animation, it only downloads it once during playback as apposed to per frame like an animated GIF does. Flash also allows for user interaction, and music.

UltraEdit-32 - Need a robot.txt file? Did you know that the newline returns from MS notepad dont look right? The spiders are looking for a unix txt file. This app runs in widows and converts or saves in unix. Shareware with a 45 day trial period.

SiteSolutions.com - In trade for your email address, they will crawl a URL of your choosing and generate a report for you on Search engine URL validation, HTML critic, etc. - It is no match for Web Position Gold, but a second opinion never hurt (much).

positionagent.com - Quick keyword position results on Altavista, Google, MSN and Yahoo

Anonymizer.com - An interesting utility where they browse the web for you, just in case your browser or cache are acting up.

Calendars Net - Free online calendars - very customizable, and no ad's

Internetprayers.com - good Christian discussion board

quicktopic.com - a free discussion board -you own it - they host it - easy and minimal ads

Thunderstone - free site index service - e.g. search and index results on YOUR site
